"Summer Forever" by Greg Beck
Musician and Songwriter
From Guitarist to Songwriter
Greg Beck has been playing guitar for most of his life, but it wasn’t until the Covid pandemic that he discovered a passion for songwriting. With time on his hands and a simple home recording setup, he began writing and recording his own music—now totaling more than 100 songs (as of April 2025).
A Lifetime of Performing
Greg’s musical journey dates back to the early 1980s when he performed as part of an acoustic duo. After decades apart, the duo reunited in 2021 and now plays regularly in the Brainerd/Baxter lakes area, bringing live music to craft breweries and other local venues.
For 18 years, Greg was also a member of the rock/blues cover band Big Sweet Life, based out of Little Falls. In recent years, the band has evolved to produce multimedia theme shows, blending live music with photos, videos, interview clips, and narration to bring legendary artists and eras to life. Their past productions have celebrated the music of Lennon & McCartney, The British Invasion, iconic B-side tracks, and Bob Dylan’s songwriting legacy.
Featured Song: "Summer Forever"
One of Greg’s standout songs, “Summer Forever”, was inspired by a conversation with his daughter about childhood summers. While her experience—and that of her own kids—was filled with organized sports and structured activities, Greg’s summers were open-ended, filled with kid-led adventures. His mother’s words, “You have to make your own fun,” shaped those carefree days, and the song captures the spirit of youthful independence and discovery. “Summer Forever” is available on Greg’s YouTube channel.
Beyond Music
Before devoting more time to music, Greg enjoyed a 27-year career as an educator, followed by a decade as an entrepreneur. Now retired, he resides on Roy Lake in Nisswa, Minnesota, where he continues to create, perform, and share his love of music.
